To improve the flat taste of boiled water, add one pinch of salt to each quart or liter of water, or pour the water from one clean container to another several times. Dip a kitchen towel or rag into the mix, and wipe a surface thoroughly to disinfect.

For lesser amounts of water, add bleach at a ratio of 2 drops to every liter. If the water is cloudy: Double the amount of bleach you add to the water.
