You can also break the gum into small pieces and remove them.

How to remove gum from dog hair. Blot the area dry, and rub vegetable oil into the remaining warm gum. Small manicure scissors cut through any stubborn hair stuck around the shaft of the caster's wheel. A simple, safe and easy way to remove gum from hair is with peanut butter and dish soap.

Once hardened, start using your fingers and try rolling the chewing gum gently. You can dampen the glove if the dry process does not produce the results you want. Some dogs even end up with a hair growing on the eye because of this.

To work on this method, you just have to get an ice cube and simply rub it until the gum becomes hard. A pair of tweezers can help you pull bits of hair and dirt from the caster's shaft. Remove gum by following these steps:

Gently peel off the gum one piece at a time, making sure not to pull at your dog’s hair. You can apply the ice directly to the hair or for less of a mess, place the ice cube in a ziploc bag. Rub some peanut butter on there, let it sit for a bit and then start working it out, that should do the trick.

You could also try mayonnaise or butter. Apply a small amount of product to affected area with a towel or cotton swab. Use your fingers to break apart the hardened gum.

For instance, creamy peanut butter helps to soften chewing gum. Dab each caster as you turn the wheel to remove any dirt or hair. Firmly wiping the hair away with a cotton swab can work, but toothbrushing on a daily basis is even better, since it will also help prevent the buildup of plaque and tartar that is another leading cause of periodontal disease.
